Best way to Support Pollinators in Oregon buy a License Plate

In the State of Oregon, you can now buy a license plate that supports native bees that pollinate the fruit and vegetables of Oregon and many other states.

$35.00 of the cost goes directly to Oregon State University for research to help support the bee population in Oregon and the Graduate program at Oregon State University.

The cost of the license is only $40.00 in total with the majority going to Oregon State University.

Artist

I first want to give credit to the incredible artist that designed this license plate for the state of Oregon.  His name is Marek Stanton who is only 16 and is not only a great artist but also an entomologist and is a master entomologist at Oregon State University. Quite the accomplishment for a 16-year-old.

I find this to not only be beautiful artwork but also find his support for this cause to be an outstanding way to rally Oregonians to support the bees not only for this state but also for the population of the world to help our bee friends who pollinate the food we eat.

The Bees Depicted on the License

Marek used the honey bee and the yellow-faced bumble bee on his license plate design, both of these bees are some of the most popular pollinating bees in Oregon where there are over 600 varieties that exist.

The red flower he designed for use on the license plate is red clover which is not only a favorite of these bees but also grows prolifically in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and is a native plant that is known for its crimson red color, fragrance, and pollen that is loved by bees.

Oregon has a vast agriculture production that relies on bees pollinating the fruit and vegetables that are grown here.  Oregon produces cranberries, cherries, apples, pears, peaches, blueberries, and vegetable farms that rely on the bee’s help to pollinate them.

By purchasing this license plate you will support the research needed to keep our bee population growing and thriving to feed Oregonians and the rest of the world.

Oregon Research

Oregon is one of the leading states that supports bee research.  The research here helps to understand what is impacting the world’s bee population from diseases to the chemicals we use that are not intended to harm them but do.  They also have done an enormous amount of research to find how we can help the bees by improving the nutrition they need to pollinate our food supply.

The bee population is declining severely around the world and this research that is being done in Oregon is essential to not only the bees but to other pollinators and to the food supply for the entire world.

This research has uncovered how certain pesticides have harmed the bee population and what can be used in place of these harsh chemicals that can improve conditions for bees and other pollinators.

If you are an Oregon resident and want to get a new license plate while supporting the research of bees here is a link so that you can preorder your pollinator license plate.
