I have grown many varieties of Zucchini with great success. If you grow zucchini and plant more than two plant you will have enough for you and your family, friends, and neighbors.
Zucchini can be used in many ways: stir-frys, salads, roasted, breads, muffins, barbequed, stuffed with your favorite meat or rices.
Growing tips: Plant in full sun when temperatures have warmed to night-time temps in 50’s, give them plenty of room since the plants will get very large, you can also save space by growing them vertically.
Feed these plants throughout the growing season with an organic fertilizer to get continual production.
Mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture for plants roots.
It is a good idea to plant 2 and follow up with succession planting of 2 more 1 month later, seeds can be directly sowed in the garden or you can use small plants.
Zucchini have both male and female flowers, usually male buds appear first so don’t be surprised if you do not have any zucchini’s setting on at first.
Cubes of Butter produces a huge crop of tender yellow zucchini.
Zebra Zucchini
This is the first year I have grown this variety, it has produced a large crop all Summer and now into late Fall and Winter. The flavor is mild and has a thin skin. These are even good when larger for grilling on the barbeque.
Romanesco Zucchini
In this picture the Romanesco is on the right with a cubes of butter on the left. The Romanesco has stronger flavor that is great in stir-frys and is best when about 6-8 inches long.
Green Zucchini
These zucchini are your typical zucchini for flavor and texture. I like to grow several varieties to add color, flavor and texture of all them to dishes.
Now that you have the best varieties of zucchini to grow, select the ones that you would like to grow and get started.
